In the midst of the U.S. presidential election, Wyclef Jean delivers “If I Was President 2016.”
Remixing his politically-charged 2008 single, ‘Clef sings about the
current political climate. “A man said he’s gonna build a wall,” he
sings. “And have Mexico pay for it all / And there’s a riot every week.”
“If I Was President 2016” is slated to appear on the former Fugees
forthcoming EP J’ouvert, which is due Nov. 18. J’ouvert, which is set to
feature Young Thug, is actually just a warm-up ahead of Carnival III:
Road to Clefication. The album will also feature Thugger, along with
Afrojack, Avicii, and Walk the Moon.
Recently, ‘Clef spoke with Pigeons & Planes about the two
upcoming efforts. “The start of the carnival is called the J’ouvert,” he
explained. “So the full-length Carnival album is going to come out in
June, and this is saying this is the start of the carnival. And because I
have so much music that I’m working on and sitting on, now I’m feeling
like I can concoct this into a crazy album.”
